Former Barcelona and Brazil defender Dani Alves has had a rape conviction overturned on attraction by a Spanish court docket.
The appeals division of Catalonia’s Excessive Court docket of Justice unanimously upheld the attraction by the 41-year-old and acquitted him, saying the case in opposition to him had “inconsistencies and contradictions”.
Alves was sentenced to 4 and a half years in jail in February 2024 after being discovered responsible of sexually assaulting a lady in a Barcelona nightclub in 2022.
The previous full-back, who earned 126 worldwide caps, was released on bail in March 2024 whereas his attraction was heard by the next court docket.
The attraction court docket stated that the ruling within the authentic court docket case “accommodates, all through the reasoning, a collection of gaps, inaccuracies, inconsistencies and contradictions relating to the information, the authorized evaluation and their penalties.
