On this week’s episode of “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart‘s ex-correspondent, John Oliver, made a shock look to “gloat” about Donald Trump ushering in America’s “monarchy period” together with his unprecedented use of govt authority.
After failing to determine anybody who might stand as much as Trump as he runs rampant with govt orders and authorities cutbacks, Stewart mused, “It’s been an excellent run, America. It’s trying like we’re turning into much less just like the constitutional republic we’ve been for 250 years, and extra just like the monarchy that all of us fought to flee from. However I feel the vital factor–”
Stewart was then reduce off by gradual, sarcastic clapping echoing from offstage. Oliver then immediately appeared with a smug look on his face.
“The prodigal son seems to have returned,” Oliver stated to resounding applause.
“Maintain on,” Stewart stated. “Do my eyes deceive me? Is that younger John Oliver? Are you right here to supply us your knowledge and counsel?”
“Oh, no, no, Jon, I’m right here to brag,” Oliver stated. “America had its little enjoyable experimenting with democracy, didn’t you? You fought so onerous to get away from [the British Empire], appearing up, throwing all that tea into the harbor? You continue to owe us for that, by the best way. Let me be the primary to welcome America to its monarchy period. Congratulations!”
Stewart then reduce “Ambassador Oliver” off, coming to the protection of america. Stewart argued that though “we’re having some hassle with democratic governance,” it appears excessive to “abandon our republic and go full empire.”
“Don’t battle being a monarchy, Jon, embrace it! Kings get shit performed,” Oliver quipped. “Is it stuff you needed performed? Not essentially. However they do transfer fast! They style cumin at lunch and so they’ve taken over a whole continent by meal time. That’s how the British rolled, Jon. Fuck everybody else. They don’t seem to be like us. The truth is, if I could sing a line from Mr. Kendrick Lamar.”
