Hundreds of firefighters battled enormous blazes in Spain and Portugal on Saturday, as elements of southern Europe remained gripped by a heatwave.
Spain’s nationwide climate company Aemet stated that temperatures had exceeded 44C in a number of locations on Saturday and warned of a really excessive threat of fires throughout “virtually all the nation”.
Greater than 1,500 sq km (579 sq miles) have been devastated by the flames in Spain and 7 folks have died.
A heatwave has scorched swathes of southern Europe this week, prompting wildfires in Spain, Portugal, Greece, France and the Balkans.
