Authorities claims 24 fighters ‘neutralised’ round northeast Borno state and 30 armed males killed in northwest Katsina.

Nigeria’s army and safety forces have killed dozens of armed males in separate operations within the northwest and the northeast of the nation, authorities have mentioned.

Safety forces killed no less than 30 gunmen after armed assaults within the restive northwest, Nasir Mua’zu, Katsina state’s commissioner for inside affairs, mentioned on Thursday.

He claimed “criminals” had been raiding three villages on Tuesday once they had been killed by authorities forces.

A joint police and army operation was launched on Wednesday after a whole bunch of armed males attacked a number of villages, Mua’zu added in a press release.

Nigerian troops backed by air help and native forces killed a number of fighters from Boko Haram and the ISIL affiliate in West Africa Province (ISWAP) in operations between July 4 and 9, the military wrote on X.

The operations had been carried out in restive Borno state and surrounding areas, mentioned the assertion by Reuben Kovangiya, a military spokesman for the army operations.

“The neutralisation of 24 insurgents with shut air help underscores the dedication, collaboration, and concerted efforts by the troops of OPHK [Operation Hadin Kai], to make sure terrorists are positioned on the again foot, thereby creating conducive atmosphere for socioeconomic actions to thrive within the North East area,” Kovangiya mentioned.
