Syria’s de facto chief, Ahmed al-Sharaa, stated his nation is exhausted by battle and isn’t a risk to its neighbours or to the West.
Chatting with the BBC’s Jeremy Bowen in Damascus, Sharaa stated sanctions on Syria needs to be lifted and that his group, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), needs to be de-listed as a terrorist organisation.
Sharaa led HTS and different insurgent teams within the offensive that toppled former President Bashar al-Assad’s regime lower than two weeks in the past.
