The Cinema Audio Society has revealed the nominations for its 61st CAS Awards for sound mixing.
The nominees within the class for live-action theatrical characteristic are the groups behind “A Full Unknown,” “Deadpool and Wolverine,” “Dune: Half Two,” “Gladiator II” and “Wicked.” Within the class for animated characteristic, the society nominated the groups behind “Inside Out 2,” “Moana 2,” “Mufasa: The Lion King,” “The Wild Robotic” and “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.”
All 5 nominees within the live-action characteristic class, in addition to animated characteristic nom “The Wild Robotic,” are shortlisted for the Oscar in sound. The shortlist is rounded out by “Alien: Romulus,” “Blitz,” “Emilia Pérez” and “Joker: Folie à Deux.”
The sound Oscar combines sound mixing and sound enhancing. The Movement Image Sound Editors introduced the nominees for its Golden Reel Awards on Monday. Shortlisted films “Alien: Romulus,” “A Full Unknown,” “Emilia Pérez,” “Deadpool & Wolverine,” “Dune: Half 2,” “Depraved” and “The Wild Robotic earned at the least one nom apiece.
