A pilot has died after their helicopter crashed into the roof of a lodge in Australia throughout an “unauthorised” early morning flight.
The plane hit the DoubleTree by Hilton lodge within the northern Queensland metropolis of Cairns at round 01:50 native time on Monday (16:50 BST Sunday), sparking a fireplace and forcing the evacuation of a whole bunch of visitors.
Authorities say the one occupant of the helicopter died on the scene, and two lodge visitors – a person in his 80s and a girl in her 70s – had been taken to hospital in a steady situation.
