A poignant picture of a nine-year-old amputee from Gaza is the 2025 World Press Photograph of the 12 months. Mahmoud Ajjour misplaced each arms in an Israeli airstrike. His portrait was taken by Palestinian photographer Samar Abu Elouf for The New York Instances. Ajjour spoke with Al Jazeera about rebuilding his life and his dream of returning house.
