Kremlin spokesman additionally says media censorship throughout Ukraine offensive is ‘justified’ as Russia is in a ‘state of battle’.

The Kremlin has accused the US of making use of unacceptable strain on Russian media after Washington introduced sanctions in opposition to journalists and a state media community.

On Friday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov advised reporters the US was attempting to make sure that Russia’s perspective on world affairs was not accessible to folks.

The ten people and two entities sanctioned by the Division of the Treasury on Wednesday included RT Editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan and her deputy, Elizaveta Brodskaia.

“Washington continues to attempt to put strain on Russia, on Russian residents and even on the Russian media, which is engaged in informing each residents inside our nation and world public opinion about what is occurring, from our perspective,” Peskov stated.

The Simeses had been indicted for allegedly receiving greater than $1m and a private automobile and driver in trade for work they did for Russia’s Channel One since June 2022. The community was sanctioned by the US in 2022 over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
